Mary Kay HolladayI have always loved the process of painting, being able to see on paper or canvas a replication of the beauty around me. It only made it better if others were equally pleased by the images I had been able to capture.

I recently re-located to Virginia Beach after having lived all my life in the Mid-west. What a joy it has been to experience these new surroundings, so very different from Indiana and Ohio. I enjoy doing landscapes and still life work, but there is a real sense of freedom when I do abstract pieces. When painting things of nature, I consider myself to be a representational artist, attempting to show color and shadow playing off of each other to create depth and beauty.

My abstracts are more about contrasting colors and how they interact to elicit an emotional response from the viewer. It may not be the same one I have but that is actually part of the fun. I started painting in oils but for the last several years I have painted in water based media. I find that I am always open to trying new things, new subject matter, new media and new techniques. My main desire is that whoever views my work will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Kathy StaicerI am an artist and I work out of my studio in Virginia Beach. I work in many different media including: oil, acrylic, watercolor, graphite, charcoal and colored pencil. My favorite medium is watercolor. I love the way it flows. The colors are magnificent and the textures are exciting.

I need to express myself artistically. To energize myself with creativity. To breath in the world around me, to process the information internally and to give back in the form of my art.

Terry BrunnerTerry Brunner has been a professional artist over 20 years. After painting for herself for many years, she began her career in the Decorative Art industry. In 2002, she earned her CDA (Certified Decorative Artist) designation from the Society of Decorative Painters.

She shares her knowledge of painting, color theory and design with hundreds of students each year. Her favorite painting subject is portraits but she also paints and teaches still life, florals, animals and landscapes.

Terry continues to express her views of the world through her brush. Her art work has been displayed and sold all over the United States and Canada, and as far away as New Zealand in homes, galleries and private collections.

Nancy LucksI paint mainly in acrylics, but enjoy working and experimenting using different mediums.

My objective as an artist is to bring the wonders of nature into my paintings. When one views my art, I want them to become a part of the subject matter bringing back a memory of hearing the waves coming on shore or to remember how the rising or setting sun brings such unbelievable colors, to remember that walk in the field, or the lifting fog, to smell the flowers, or that stroll down a path to a secret place.

As I travel around the world, I find that nature always has something new and exciting to offer me as an artist. My wish is that everyone viewing my paintings experiences the excitement that I feel when I paint each and every painting.

Jane FuquaA native of Annapolis and Maryland, Jane, has enjoyed a lifetime love of all things artistic. As a navy wife stationed in many places she had the opportunity tp study art in South Carolina, Connecticut and Hawaii before moving to Virginia Beach in 1979.

After raising her family, her interest in painting has become a major part of her life. Her love of children has been the motivation for many paintings. The beauty of this world and it’s people inspire her work.

Patricia DehartI am a native Virginian who has made her home in Virginia Beach for 24 years.
